This is my anthem, so to speak. It puts to music my beliefs about our human rights and the nature of government. I express in song what we Americans, born here or naturalized, have in common despite other disagreements. I use the key of drop D to enhance the resonance that underscores the meaning. â€‹

Song of the Ocean

I was asked to perform at a fundraiser for the Noyo Center for Marine Science, which is located in Fort Bragg, CA. I thought, well maybe if I wrote a new song about whales, it might open up the wallets and purses a bit more. So, I asked Professor Google, what are some interesting facts about whales that I could make into a song? I was astonished by the answers. My favorite is that whales never sleep or else they would drown. Scientists think that the two halves of the whale's brain take turns sleeping and being awake!

Celtic Conversations

I love Irish pubs such as the one we have here in Mendocino, Patterson's Pub! They are warm and lively places with good music, pub food and Guinness on tap. I wrote this instrumental to capture some of that mood. It begins with me walking toward a pub with muted sounds getting louder as I do. When I open the door, I am assailed with sound and energy. I overhear several conversations including an angry one that the barkeep smooths over. At the end of the melody, I am just sitting contentedly in the corner soaking up the atmosphere.
